Natural Hair colour 
Natural hair has a colourless cuticle. The pigments are in the cortex. The different concentrations of varying melanin pigments determine our natural hair colour and create different natural levels and shade directions. The levels vary from 2 – 10, with 2 being the darkest and 10 representing the lightest level.

What are the reasons for Pre- lightening hair?

Neutralising unwanted colour tones
  • The colour star is also used to help us neutralise unwanted colour tones. The colours opposite each other will cancel each other out.
  • If a colour result has a green tone, you would need to add a red toner to neutralise it.
  • The most common toners used have violet or blue in to neutralise yellow or orange tone on the hair when lightening.

We pre- lighten hair for the following reasons:
To remove natural or artificial colour pigment
To remove unwanted tones in the hair- red, copper, gold tones
